WGMD Fishing Report 6-15-19

Friday did not get the weekend off to a great start.  West winds to 30 knots in the ocean and bay made fishing difficult.

We had a couple of good fishing days, but for the past week or more the weather has been pretty bad.  It seems we get one front after another with strong south to southwest winds ahead of the system and hard north to northeast winds once the system has passed.  This unsettled weather makes it difficult to get out on the open water and the heavy rains that accompany these fronts put a lot of fresh water where we don’t need it.

Even old standby locations such as the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal and the Broadkill River have been hurt by this weather pattern.  Red Mill Pond is high and muddy as I suspect most of the other fresh water impoundments in Delaware are.

It will take a few days of decent weather for the seas to settle down and the fish to start behaving in a normal pattern.

I believe it was Mark Twain who said everyone complains about the weather, but no one does anything about it.  I do believe he is correct.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
