WGMD Fishing Report 6-2-18

Friday saw much warmer weather and in some locations the fish responded while in other places they did not.

The DNREC Police Kids Fishing Tournament is still on for today at Ingrams Pond, Akridge Scout Reservation and the dog training area at Lums Pond.  Hours are 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and it is all free.

When I stopped by Lewes Harbour Marina, Tony was cleaning a mixed bag of fish caught from Delaware Bay on the Pirate King with Captain Don Churchill.  They had kings, blowfish, smooth dog sharks and throwback trout.  Tony said the boats that fished on Thursday night brought in good numbers of big black drum.

At Old Inlet Bait and tackle the report was some keeper rockfish to over 40 inches caught during the night time incoming water.  Swim shads in shad or bunker colors did the trick.  Flounder remain scarce in Indian River Bay with a few keepers taken out of the VFW Slough and at Massey’s Ditch.  One flounder fisherman at Massey’s was surprised when a big bluefish ate his minnow.

The weekend weather does not look good.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
