These 23lb and 16lb cobia were caught by Nick Ferrara of Middletown, DE using eels out in front of Bethany Beach, Delaware

Friday was not a good day for fishing the ocean, but boats working in Delaware Bay did catch some fish.  A word of warning, the Coast Guard has advised boaters in the Upper Chesapeake Bay to be aware of floating debris from the open flood gates at the Conowingo Dam.  Fishing reports from that area are dismal.

When we stopped by Lewes Harbour Marina, Tony was cleaning the cleaning table after cleaning a mixed bag of fish from the bay including triggerfish, kings, trout and blues.  The fish were caught aboard the Katydid and the Angler.

Chris at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said the Captain Ike brought in four tuna from the inshore lumps.  Triggerfish were caught over inshore ocean structure.

At Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park the report was pretty poor.  The threat of thunderstorms kept most people off the pier and the few that did fish had little luck.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle they told us fishing was lousy from the beach and the inlet.

The weekend looks promising with a decent forecast.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
