WGMD Fishing Report 7-5-18

The Fourth of July was a beautiful fishing day and with lots of people in town most of the popular spots were fished hard.

Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Storm Rider had a good catch of dolphin from the Washington Canyon.  The Sea Hunter fished the Baltimore Canyon and came back with golden and blueline tilefish, pollock and ling.  The Katydid had a catch of flounder to 4.67 pounds over ocean structure.  Flounder also came in from the Canal, the Roosevelt Inlet and Reef Site 10.  The Canal gave up two slot rockfish on live eels.

At the fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park Lighthouse View tackle said spot and croaker along with a few short flounder have been caught.

Burt at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us flounder fishing has been a bit better with the best action in deeper water of 100 feet or more.  The offshore boats are bringing in two to seven tunas plus nice-sized dolphin.  The Washington Canyon has been one of the better locations.  Spanish and king mackerel were caught on spoons at Fenwick Shoal.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
