WGMD Fishing Report 8-1-18

Wednesday saw small craft advisories flying and they will be up again on Thursday.  I don’t recall a summer with this much bad weather.  Let’s hope it improves for next week’s White Marlin Open.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said no one sailed on Wednesday, but he expects to see good flounder action at the Old Grounds once we get fishable weather.  The Lewes and Rehoboth Canal is still producing good-sized flounder on Gulp!, minnows and strips of squid or fish.  Croaker and spot are also in the Canal and will take bloodworms or FishBites.

At Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park they told us a 19-inch flounder was caught on a live minnow and some nine-inch croaker were taken on bloodworms.

Chris at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said none of the ocean boats could sail, but the Judy V made a day of it catching croaker close to shore.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle Clark said the only fish they heard about were some croaker caught from the inlet on the southside by the campground.  Bloodworms or FishBites were the top baits.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
