WGMD Fishing Report 8-22-18

The wind blew again on Wednesday making for some tough fishing, especially in the ocean.  The bay was a little better and the head boats from Angler’s Dock in Lewes had some croaker.  The charter boat Miss Kirstin also ran to the bay for some productive bottom fishing.

The one place you can go when the wind blows is the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park.  Lighthouse View Tackle said spot and croaker continue to bite in spite of the rough water.

At Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em they said the Captain Bob stayed close to shore to put together a catch of croaker, triggerfish, blues and one flounder for their party.

Thursday will be another rough day, but the weekend is looking good.  It will be so strange to have good weekend weather, so let’s get out on the water and take advantage.

I believe there will be some flounder at the Old Grounds and around A and B buoys.  If you manage to hook a keeper, short drift that location at least a couple of times before moving on.  Bay reef sites should hold croaker and a few flounder.  The canyons will give up marlin, dolphin and wahoo.  Deep dropping should also be good.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
