Thursday was a beautiful day, but not many boats ran out to open water.
Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said he had not seen a single fish on the cleaning table all day due to most boats tied to the dock.
At the fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park Taylor said he had seen three keeper flounder caught on live minnows or jigs worked close to the pilings. Some keeper croaker have been mixed in with the shorts and a few keeper-sized spot were also caught. Bloodworms have been the best bait for these fish.
Bert at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us the head boats came in on Wednesday just short of their limit of flounder. Thursday was a little slower, but some flounder were caught.
Going into the weekend the weather looks good for Friday and Saturday, but goes downhill fast from Sunday on. The Old Grounds and ocean reef sites will be your best bet for catching a flounder. The Delaware Bay will have some flounder, triggerfish and croaker on the reef sites.
