WGMD Fishing Report 8-3-18

Strong winds and local downpours did nothing to improve the fishing on Friday.  I had planned to fish Site 8 in my boat in the morning, but had to cancel due to the weather and my deep drop trip on Saturday is also a victim of the lousy conditions.

At Lewes Harbour Marina, Tony said Mike, Erin and their daughter Reagan had a good time at the Lewes Town Dock catching croaker and spot on FishBites, shiners, bloodworms and squid.  The Katydid ran a half-day trip to the bay and came back with black drum, triggers, croakers, porgies and blues.

Dave at Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park told us spot fishing was pretty good with 10 to 15 keepers the average catch.  Bloodworms have been the bait of choice.

Chris at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us the ocean was pretty rough and the only fish they saw go across the cleaning table were croakers caught close to shore.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle they said it was a slow, rainy day with just a few croakers caught out of the Inlet.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
