WGMD Fishing Report 9-26-18

Wednesday was windy and rough in the ocean, but surf fishing was decent and at least one boat made it out to Delaware Bay.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid fished bay structure and came back with five sheepshead of which three were citations weighing between 9.5 and 10.5 pounds.  The party also boxed some tog and black drum.

Henlopen Tackle reported the surf at Cape Henlopen State Park produced some snapper blues, pompano, small drum and short rockfish.  I would suspect sand fleas, bloodworms, FishBite bloodworms and cut mullet accounted for most of the catch.

Clark at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said blues ran through the inlet on incoming water and were caught on bucktails or small metal lures.  A few sheepshead and tog were caught on sand fleas out of the inlet rocks.  On the beach it was small blues and a few pompano on sand fleas and cut mullet.

I called Jerry Taylor at Taylored Tackle in Seaford and he said fishing has been slow there as well.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report
