They say knowledge is power, and Wicomico County Sheriff’s office wants to teach citizens what to do in the event of an active shooter. Next week members of the Sheriff’s office and Maryland State Police will hold a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Training. The training is built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend approach that provides a proven plan to survive active shooter events. The training is free to the public, and includes history and prevalence of active shooters, civilian response options, and the role of first responders, among other topics. The event is free and open to the public. It takes place at 6 PM on February 27th, at the Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury. For more information, contact the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.
