UPDATED: Woodbridge School District Referendum Defeated

UPDATED  3-12-19 – Voters in the Woodbridge School District voted against a current operating expense referendum with 754 against the measure and 641 for the referendum.  If approved the referendum would have raised the school tax portion of property owners taxes by just under $70 for Sussex County residents and about $84 for Kent County residents.

Voters in the Woodbridge School District go to the polls Tuesday to approve or deny additional taxes for a $950,000 current operating expense referendum. For residents in Sussex County the average annual increase is just under $70 and for Kent County residents the increase about $84. The funding would be used for increased operating costs – transportation, utility costs, security enhancements and salary expenses due to growth in enrollment. The polls will be open from 7am to 8pm at Woodbridge Middle School in Bridgeville and Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center in Greenwood.
