MOUNTAIRE FARMS’
THANKSGIVING FOR THOUSANDS FOOD DRIVE
AND DISTRIBUTION ON DELMARVA

For more than 20 years Mountaire Farms has been feeding families on Delmarva at Thanksgiving and throughout the year, and the annual Thanksgiving for Thousands Food Drive event has become a story unto itself; one that is making a positive difference in many communities along the Eastern Shore.

Here’s how it works:

Volunteers Collecting Food on Delmarva
This year on Saturday, November 7th Mountaire will be partnering with various food stores, companies, churches, organizations and community leaders to collect food for Thanksgiving for Thousands. Volunteers man various food store locations around the area and hand out flyers listing food items that shoppers can purchase while they are shopping for their own families. The purchased food items are given to the volunteers on the way out of the store and they, in turn, put them in boxes for collection at the end of the day by Mountaire Farms trucks. The food is then taken to the Selbyville warehouse for packing on November 23rd. We need volunteers at each store location to help collect the purchased food.

Participating Stores

Giant Store – Long Neck, Millville, Rehoboth Beach, & Seaford
Hocker’s Super Center – Ocean View
Redner’s – Camden, Cheswold, North and South Dover, Georgetown, Milford
Safeway – Rehoboth Beach
Sav-A-Lot – Millsboro & Seaford
Walmart – Berlin, Georgetown, Milford, Rehoboth Beach, & Seaford

Volunteers Packing Food for Thanksgiving for Thousands
On Monday, November 23rd from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. volunteers are welcomed to join the Thanksgiving for Thousands team at Mountaire’s Selbyville warehouse to help pack the food that was collected at area supermarkets and organize the boxes for distribution. Along with the collected food Mountaire Farms provides a chicken roaster for each family. This is one of the great food distribution events of the year, and people come to be part of a team that has helped so many in our communities over the last 20 years. This is truly a wonderful way to help those less fortunate have a Thanksgiving meal and enjoy the day with their families and friends. We need volunteers to help us pack. Selbyville warehouse: 50 Hosier Street

Mountaire Farms’ trucks will transport the food boxes to various locations, including the Dagsboro Church of God on Highway 113, for distribution and delivery to the many recipients on Delmarva. Please join us this year, and help us help others have a great Thanksgiving.
