UPDATED: Crash West of Georgetown Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

UPDATED – 7/22/18  5pm – Delaware State Police have identified the man who was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon.  Police say 63 year old Thomas Clarke of Georgetown was driving the pickup truck that went off West Piney Grove Road just before 3pm and then crossed the roadway and the center line colliding with a Jeep.  Clarke was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Jeep was properly restrained and was treated for injuries at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

UPDATED – 7/22/18   3am – A 63 year old Georgetown man is dead after a crash on West Piney Gover Road west of Georgetown Saturday afternoon.  Delaware State Police continue to investigate, but say the man’s pickup went off the road – and re-entered the roadway and crossed the center line into the path of a Jeep.  Police say the driver of the pickup was not wearing a seat belt and was trapped inside.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 53 year old Georgetown woman in the Jeep was belted and taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency crews were called for a crash west of Georgetown.  Delaware State Police say 1 person has died – a second person was trapped in the vehicle.   The crash occurred just before 3pm on West Piney Grove Road.  Drivers should avoid the area – or expect delays getting through on West Piney Grove Road – west of East Trap Pond Road.
