19-year-old girl struck by gunfire during brawl in Felton

A 19-year-old girl is fighting for her life after she was shot in the middle of a brawl in Felton.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred just before 6 p.m., Sunday as troopers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Barney Jenkins Road in Felton, for reports of multiple shots being fired.

Police arrived and learned that a 19-year-old female had been struck by gunfire and was privately transported to a local hospital.

Further investigation revealed that a fight had been set up on social media due to an ongoing feud. Approximately 15-25 people showed up to witness the fight.

An argument ensued between the 19-year-old victim and another 19-year-old girl.

A brawl ensued between the crowd, at which time an African American man, wearing a disguise, pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds.

The 19-year-old was struck by gunfire and remains in critical condition.

There were no other injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
