UPDATE | $800,000 in damage to 3 homes in Slaughter Beach fire

Firefighters from Sussex and Kent County are on the scene of a multiple home fire in Slaughter Beach. The call came in at 2:24pm and within a half hour three homes were involved and the tanker strike team called in. Firefighters from Memorial Volunteer Fire Company were assisted by about a dozen area fire companies from Sussex and Kent Counties.

Deputy fire marshals investigated and determined that the fire was accidental and caused by a house generator on the exterior of the home. Damage is estimated at $800,000.
