UPDATED: Milford Man Found Guilty for Attempted Murder in 2024

UPDATED – 06/15/26 – A Delaware Superior Court Jury has found 39 year old Derrick Legree of Milford, guilty on all charges for his role in an attempted murder that occurred on November of 2024. Attorney General Kathy Jennings says that Legree was convicted on Tuesday, May 12.
Milford Police responded to Tull Way at Brightway Commons where they found a female victim with stab wounds – she was taken to an area hospital in critical, but stable condition.
Legree was gone from the scene when police arrived and arrested by the US Marshal’s Task Force over two weeks later in Philadelphia.
Sentencing is currently scheduled for September 10, 2026.

UPDATED – 03/03/25 – A 37 year old Milford man wanted for attempted murder has been extradited back to Delaware from Philadelphia with the assistance of the Delaware Department of Justice. Derrick Legree has been formally charged in connection with a November 3, 2024 attempted murder investigation. He is charged with multiple offenses:
- Attempted Murder 1st Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Legree is now being held at SCI in default of a $622,000 cash bond and an additional $25,000 cash bond for an active violation of probation.
