Juvenile Playing with Lighter Sparks House Fire in Lincoln

The occupants of a house on Ryans Run in Lincoln are safe after their home became engulfed in flames early this morning. The occupants were able to evacuate the home, which was equipped with smoke detectors. The Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on the scene after the report was made shortly after 7:30. Fire officials say the blaze started in the bedroom and was caused by a juvenile playing with a lighter and igniting available combustibles. The juvenile has been referred to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program as a result. Damage is estimated at $200,000. No other injuries were reported.
