Milford Man Charged with Weapons Offenses after Found with Gun on Milford HS Property

A Milford man was found to be in possession of a firearm while on Milford High School property on Wednesday. Milford Police learned that 21 year old Joshua Walker arrived at the parent pickup line after school dismissal and a firearm dropped from his person as he exited the vehicle. A student spotted Walker attempting to put the weapon in his waistband and notified school staff, who notified the school resource officer.

Senior Cpl Golding contacted and detained Walker and removed the firearm from his person.

Investigation showed Walker did not intend any harm to any person or the schools within Milford School District. He is charged with the following offenses:聽

  • Possession of a Firearm in a Safe School Zone聽
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm
  • Possession of Untraceable Firearm

Walker was arraigned through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 is being held in default of a $45,000 cash bail.聽聽

Milford Police Chief Cecilia Ashe stated, “It is important to recognize that the student, high school staff and the SRO all took quick and appropriate action.聽 SRO, S/Cpl. Golding, should be commended for his actions in immediately confronting the subject in the parking lot, using his training to de-escalate the situation and taking the suspect into without incident.聽 This is just a small example of the great training and the bravery that our officers demonstrate each and every day.”
