UPDATE: Third Suspect Arrested in Shooting in Slaughter Beach in June


UPDATE – 07/18/25 – Delaware State Police have arrested a third suspect in connection with a shooting in June near the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company. Police say 21 year old Deonte King of Lincoln turned himself in at Troop 3 on Thursday after police identified him as a suspect in the June 12th shooting incident which left a 32 year old Dover man injured, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

King is charged charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Assault 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 10 counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Firearm (Felony)
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 9 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)

King was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $234,500 cash bond.

UPDATE – 06/26/25 Delaware State Police arrested two individuals–19-year-old Tyree Johnson of Harrington and 22-year-old Tymere Harmon, of Dover, in connection with a shooting that happened on June 12th near the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company. Police say that during a party at a nearby pavilion, multiple masked individuals opened fire, injuring a 32-year-old Dover man. The suspects fled before police arrived. Investigators later identified Johnson and Harmon as suspects. Harmon was arrested during a traffic stop on June 20th, while Johnson was apprehended on June 25th after fleeing from detectives and discarding a bag containing a loaded Glock 17, extended magazine, and ammunition.

  • Assault 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 10 counts
  • Reckless Endanger 1st Degree (Felony) – 9 counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine

Johnson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and remains committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $598,100 cash bond.

Harmon was charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Reckless Endanger 1st Degree (Felony) – 10 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)

Harmon was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $101,000 cash bond.  He is currently under supervised custody.  

Police continue to seek additional suspects. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for any information that may lead their on-going efforts to identify the remaining suspects responsible for the shooting. The unknown individuals are described as wearing all black clothing and black ski masks. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

ORIGINAL STORY – 06/13/25 – Delaware State Police were called to Bay Avenue in Slaughter Beach for a reported shooting just after 7pm Thursday. Police learned that a party at the pavilion behind the Slaughter Beach Memorial Fire Company was interrupted when three masked suspected arrived and fired multiple rounds at the attendees. A 32 year old Dover man was struck in the leg – he was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released. The suspects wore all black clothing and black ski masks.
