DE Unemployment Increases in May; Sussex County Unemployment Drops

Unemployment in Delaware increase from 3.9% in April to 4% in May while the national average remained unchanged at 4.2%. However in Sussex County unemployment dropped from 4% in April to 3.7% in May.

Delaware’s labor force grew by 800 – the largest over-the-month increase since June of 2023 – and 900 more workers than a year ago. The biggest over-the-year job changes were in Private Education & Health, Construction, Government and Wholesale & Retail Trade.
