Pedestrian Crash on Plantation Road in Lewes Sunday Sends 12 Year old to Hospital

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent a 12 year old boy to the hospital. Police tell the Talk of Delmarva that the boy was walking with his family on Shady Road west of Lewes around 12:30 Sunday morning and stopped at the red light at Plantation Road waiting to cross onto Salt Marsh Boulevard. A Jeep Wrangler driven by a 57 year old Lewes man was also stopped at the same intersection ā and planning to turn onto Plantation Road. When the signal changed both the pedestrians and the Jeep moved, but the driver of the Jeep failed to yield to the pedestrians in the crosswalk and struck the boy, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
