A dredge project will begin with the Army Corps of Engineers in Ocean City Tuesday. Worcester County officials say that sediment deposits are creating serious navigational issues of the commercial and recreational fishing communities – even though annual maintenance dredging was done earlier this year.   This emergency dredge comes in advance of the White Marlin Open which begins on August 4th.

About 10,000 cubic yards of material in the Ocean City Harbor, Inlet and the intersection of the channel and the Isle of Wight Bay Channel will be removed by the dredge Merritt.

This dredge project is expected to take 8 to 10 days to complete. Boaters should anticipate delays when traveling in the areas being dredged and should not attempt to pass on the side of the boat where dredge materials are being cast.
