Troopers Arrest Selbyville Man for 6th Offense DUI in Lincoln
Delaware State Police have arrested a 65-year-old Selbyville man for his 6th DUI felony offense in Lincoln. According to State Police, at about 2:00 p.m., troopers assigned to the Highway Safety Unit responded to Dupont Boulevard near Morgan Drive in Lincoln for a welfare check. When troopers arrived, they found a silver Lexus RX350 in the median strip, and the driver having what appeared to be a medical emergency. The driver–identified as Luis Rodriguez– showed signs of impairment and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. At the hospital, troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and after Rodriguez was released from the hospital, he was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Rodriguez had five prior DUI-related convictions. During an inventory search of the SUV, before it was towed, troopers found approximately .06 grams of heroin. Rodriguez is at Sussex Correctional Institution on just over $8,200 secured bond on charges that include 6th Offense DUI, Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance except Human Growth Hormone without a Prescription,and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also charged with Driving without a Valid License, and Failure to Remain in a Single Lane.
