$96K Settlement Secured Following HIV Drug Kickback Investigation

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings has announced that the state will receive $96,571.13 as part of a $202 million national settlement with Gilead Sciences, Inc., resolving allegations of illegal kickbacks to promote HIV drugs. From 2011 to 2017, Gilead allegedly gave healthcare providers payments, meals, and travel perks to encourage prescribing its drugs鈥攙iolating the Anti-Kickback Statute and leading to聽false Medicaid claims. The whistleblower case was originally filed in 2016 in federal court in New York. Delaware鈥檚 portion of the settlement will go to its Medicaid program, with the case handled by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, which is 75% federally funded and 25% state funded. AG Jennings reaffirmed her commitment to protecting healthcare resources from fraud.
