Pony Swim Week Events Beginning at Chincoteague & Assateague Island

Events for Pony Swim week in Chincoteague begin on Saturday morning. The South Herd roundup will begin at 7am. The public can watch the over 50 ponies – both adult and foals – as they arrive at the southern corral on Beach Road. These ponies will be at the Southern Corral through Tuesday for pictures and viewing. Also – a limited number of raffle tickets are available for the Neptune Raffle – at the information stand at the Carnival Grounds. You MUST be present to win when the drawing takes place Wednesday night at 7:30pm at the band stand.

Sunday is the North Herd roundup – beginning at 6am – this is NOT open to the public as part of the island is not accessible.  The Saltwater Cowboys will herd this group to the Northern Corral.  Monday at daybreak, the North Herd will be walked along the beach to join the ponies at the Southern Corral.
