Berlin Mayor Zack Tyndall is looking at a possible run for the Maryland 1st District in the US Congress and has formed the “Friends of Zachery Tyndall Exploratory Committee.” Tyndall is a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, understands that rural communities are often overlooked and underserved – and has led Berlin for nearly a decade. He wants to help bring Eastern Shore values back to Washington.
Tyndall is a Democrat and wants to hear from residents of Maryland’s First Congressional district on the issues that matter most to them.

In towns and cities across Maryland’s Eastern Shore, issues frequently arise regarding federal support and funding for critical projects, including public safety, healthcare, and infrastructure. Tyndall believes that these issues stem from a disconnect between Washington and the Eastern Shore.
“I am a hands-on Mayor. I believe this type of leadership is necessary to effectively manage the daily challenges of local government and understand the problems facing the people I represent,” stated Mayor Zack Tyndall. “I have chosen to create a Congressional Exploratory Committee because the people of Maryland’s First Congressional District deserve a representative who is not only visible and accessible but also responsive and a partner. I believe that I am the person to help bring Eastern Shore values back to Washington.”
Tyndall continues to demonstrate a commitment to public service. At the age of 14, he became a volunteer firefighter with the Berlin Fire Company and later progressed to a career Firefighter/Paramedic in Berlin and Ocean City. Currently, he leads a consultation company that
provides medical simulation assistance at the collegiate level. Tyndall has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Management with a minor in finance from the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University. Additionally, he has served as the
President of the Maryland Mayors’ Association and a Board Member of the Maryland Municipal League.
