UPDATE: Victim Identified; DSP Investigating Fatal Crash on Route 113 north of Georgetown Monday Afternoon

Delaware State Police have identified 49-year-old Beckie Morales, of the Bronx, New York, as the woman who died in the crash Monday afternoon in Georgetown. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating this crash. 

Original Post:

A woman from New York died after her vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer Monday afternoon around 12:30 at the intersection of Route 113 and Redden Road. Delaware State Police say the 49 year old New York woman in a Nissan was southbound on Route 113 approaching the intersection. A truck hauling an empty grain trailer was topped northbound ready to make a left turn onto Redden Road. The truck failed to yield the right of way and turned left into the crossover and collided with the Nissan. Police say the New York woman was wearing a seatbelt – she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, a 76 year old Cambridge man was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
