Two New Advisory Committees Established in Rehoboth Beach

Two new advisory committees have been established in Rehoboth Beach. The City Streets & Safety Advisory Committee is chaired by Commissioner Mark Saunders and will gather and curate subjects of interest pertaining to the city of Rehoboth Beach with special emphasis on public safety as it pertains to street, sidewalks, transportation, beach, boardwalk and animal issues. The Environmental Advisory Committee is chaired by Commissioner Craig Thier and is aimed at enhancing the livability of the City of Rehoboth Beach by focusing on initiatives pertaining to the environment that will improve the overall experience of residents, commercial partners and visitors. Applications for both committees are open – and must be received by October 10th. Appointments will be made at the October 17th City Commissioners meeting.

Additional information from the City of Rehoboth Beach:

Voting committee members shall be comprised of residents, property owners and business owners of the City of Rehoboth Beach. The committee shall be composed of seven to nine members. This committee shall have an odd number of voting members including the chair. Terms of office are reviewed annually. The Committee meets on an “as needed” basis at City Hall.Ā

Selection of members is by evaluation of submitted applications (link to application can be found on the Meetings page of www.rehobothbeachde.gov). If, after reviewing applicant qualifications including experience and expertise specific to the mission of the committee,

prior board and commission experience particularly in a leadership role (public, private or non-profit) and applicant availability, there are more applicants than positions available, preference may be given to former members of the now dissolved committees.

Advisory committee meetings are open to the public and are noticed at least a week prior to the meeting date. Initial meeting date is to be determined as we establish the membership roster.
