Woman Arrested for DUI after Driving into Red Mill Pond Near Lewes

Delaware State Police were called to the area of Red Mill Pond near Lewes just after 10 Thursday night for a water rescue – for a report of a boat that capsized in the water. When Troopers arrived, they found an occupied Dodge Durango submerged in the pond. Police learned that the driver, a 56 year old Lewes woman, was traveling on Edgewater Drive, drove through a vacant lot and into the pond. Lewes and Milton fire crews removed the driver from the vehicle. Speaking with the driver, Troopers observed signs of impairment – she refused Standard Field Sobriety Tests – and was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and arrested for DUI.
