Delaware Superior Court Stays Proceedings in US Wind, Sussex County Council Substation Litigation

The Delaware Superior Court has paused proceedings in the litigation involving US Wind and the Sussex County Council over a denied permit for an electric substation tied to an offshore wind project. In a statement responding to the court’s order, State Sen. Stephanie Hansen said the pause supports the General Assembly’s authority in such matters and noted her belief that the legislation passed earlier this year was aimed at addressing statewide energy reliability and infrastructure needs. Those who oppose the offshore wind project have raised concerns about its impact on marine life as well as the community and surrounding area.
