More Flu in Delaware This Year According to DPH

The flu season in Delaware this year is showing higher numbers to date than the 2024-2025 season. Delaware Public Health officials report there have been 770 total cases of the flu reported statewide between September 28 and December 13 with 334 new cases reported December 7 – 14th. In Sussex County, there have been 70 new cases December 14 through 20 with a total of about 217 cases reported this season.  In Kent County a total of 159 cases have been reported this season and 385 in New Castle County.  Health officials say these are confirmed numbers by way of testing, however the actual instance of flu is likely higher as most people do not get tested.

The Delaware Public Health “My Healthy Community” website shows a total of 397 cases of flu during the 2024-25 Flu Season.  Influenza can occur throughout the year, but seasonal influenza is usually from October through mid-May of the following year.
