Food Bank of Delaware Holding SOUPer Bowl Food Drive
From now through Super Bowl Sunday, the Food Bank of Delaware is collecting canned soup as part of its fourth annual SOUPer Bowl food drive. Food Bank President and CEO Cathy Kanefsky says the drive gives the community an easy way to turn Super Bowl excitement into meaningful support for Delaware families facing hunger. Donations benefit the Food Bank’s Healthy Pantry Centers in Newark and Milford, which serve more than 100 households each weekday. The goal is to collect 2,026 pounds of soup by February 16th. Donations can be dropped off at Food Bank locations or partner sites statewide.

Additional Information from the Food Bank of Delaware:
Donations will directly benefit individuals experiencing food insecurity who visit the Food Bank’s on-site Healthy Pantry Centers in Newark and Milford. On average, more than 100 households visit the pantry each week day.
Here’s the game plan:
- Pick up a few extra soup cans on your next grocery shopping trip and drop them off to the Food Bank.
- Donate money to help the Food Bank purchase soup. Donate online by visiting www.fbd.org/souperbowl, and we’ll see which team’s fans raise the most money.
- Set up a collection box at your organization or school.
- Throwing a Super Bowl party? Ask each person to bring at least one can of soup with them.
- Have a neighborhood clubhouse? Set up a collection box for residents to deposit their soup donations.
- Faith-based organizations, collect cans of soup at Super Bowl Sunday service.
- Run a restaurant or bar that is hosting a Super Bowl party? Consider offering a small discount to everyone who brings a can of soup to donate.
Donations may be dropped off to specially-marked Souper Bowl collection boxes at the Newark and Milford facilities or one of our statewide collection partners. For those who collect more than 20 bags, the Food Bank of Delaware can arrange a pick-up. The goal is to collect 2,026 pounds of soup by February 16.
