Two Residents Displaced After Attic Fire in Salisbury

A fire that occurred on Sunday afternoon, February 15th, at a house with an attached garage on South Kaywood Drive in Salisbury was ruled accidental as a result of an electrical event. According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the blaze began in the attic of the single-story, wood frame, single-family home. A neighbor alerted the occupants to the fire. The Salisbury Fire Department assisted with removing one occupant from the residence. Both occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The smoke alarm status was noted as present but did not activate due to the fire originating in the attic. The total estimated loss of structure and contents is $300,000.
