UPDATED: State of Emergency In Wicomico County to be Lifted at 5pm Tuesday
UPDATED – 02/24/26 – 1:15pm – Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano announced today that the local State of Emergency will be lifted effective 5:00 PM this evening.
The State of Emergency was declared in response to severe winter weather conditions that impacted roadways, public safety operations, and essential county services. Over the course of the storm, county personnel worked around the clock to ensure public safety, maintain critical infrastructure, and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
“Our teams have done an outstanding job responding to this storm,” said County Executive Giordano. “Because of their hard work and the cooperation of our residents, we are now in a position to safely lift the State of Emergency.”
The County’s Roads Division, Solid Waste Department, Fire and EMS, Sheriff’s Office, municipal law enforcement partners, Parks Division, and supporting staff operated continuously throughout the weather event. Their coordinated efforts helped clear major roadways, respond to emergency calls, and maintain continuity of government services.
Although the State of Emergency will be lifted at 5:00 PM, residents are encouraged to continue using caution, particularly on secondary roads and in areas where lingering icy conditions may remain.
Wicomico County thanks its residents for their patience, preparedness, and cooperation during this weather event.
