DNREC Investigating 30,000-Gallon Wastewater Overflow in Millsboro


A wastewater overflow in Millsboro is under investigation following a report filed with state environmental officials. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) says the incident was reported through the Delaware Environmental Release Notification System. According to DNREC, this morning February 26th at 8:30 AM, about 30,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater overflowed from the Town of Millsboro Wastewater Treatment Facility, located at 361 E. State Street in Millsboro. The wastewater flowed onto facility grounds and into the Indian River. According to DNREC, the substance involved is not considered hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). DNREC is investigating the incident. The facility has conducted ground cleanup efforts and is working with DNREC鈥檚 groundwater section.
