Dover Police Arrest 2 in Shooting Incident Wednesday Afternoon in the Village of Westover


Two have been arrested by Dover Police in connection with a shooting incident that occurred just after 3:30 Thursday afternoon in the Village of Westover. Police were called for shots fired in the area of Thames Drive and learned that an 18 year old male was struck in the leg. The victim was taken to Bayhealth Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A search of the area turned up several shell casings behind one residence and two homes that were damaged from gunfire – both homes were occupied at the time. Witnesses gave police descriptions of the suspects and their direction of travel.

A DSP K9 unit tracked to a residence on Mifflin Road where 2 handguns were found in a trash can. The resident consented to a search of the property and 18 year old Nasir Gibson of Wilmington and 18 year old Dimitri Marcelin of Dover were found in a detached shed in the yard.

Both suspects were charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault 1st DegreeĀ 
  • Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony (2x)Ā 
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (2x)Ā 
  • Conspiracy 2nd DegreeĀ Ā 
  • Wearing a Disguise During Commission of Felony
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1000 (2x)Ā 
  • Trespass 2nd Degree

Both Gibson and Marcelin were committed to SCI on $63,800 cash bonds on these offenses.
