Family Dog Perishes in Early Morning Salisbury Area Fire

Salisbury firefighters were called for a structure fire on Richmond Avenue in Salisbury around 5:30 Friday morning. Salisbury Fire, along with several neighboring agencies, mounted an aggressive attack on the fire to complete searches. A member from Truck 2 located and transferred a dog to EMS for care – State Fire Marshal investigators report the dog died.

Investigation shows the fire began on the roof and was accidental from an electrical event.Ā  A smoke alarm was present but it’s unknown if it was activated.Ā 

The American Red Cross and family members are assisting the occupant.

Damage is estimated at $170,000.
