A Dorchester County man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder. Maryland State Police responded to a report of a disturbance on Middle Street in Vienna just after 10 Thursday night. The trooper found the front door open and contacted a man inside, but the man disappeared into the home – and returned with a gun and fired multiple shots towards the trooper and left the scene. The trooper was not injured and did not return fire, but took cover and requested additional units.
Troopers from the Easton Barrack secured the scene and located the suspect about 20 minutes later near Water Street – behind the residence where the shooting occurred.
Police arrested 46 year old Armond Jolley of Vienna, who is charged with attempted 1st degree murder and other offenses.
Jolley is being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
Maryland State Police from the Easton Barrack responded to the scene along with troopers from the Criminal Enforcement Division, the Underwater Recovery Team, members of the Office of the State Fire Marshal and deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division also responded to process the scene for evidence. Investigators are working in consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney in Dorchester County.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the continuing investigation.
