Denton Man Killed in Crash Involving Lawn Mower and Pickup Truck in Caroline County

A Denton, Maryland man is dead after a crash involving a Toyota pickup truck and a lawn mower in Caroline County, according to Maryland State Police. The operator of the John Deere lawn mower–42-year-old Joel Garcia–was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Tundra, a 32-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Troopers said the crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. yesterday, April 15th on Burrsville Road near Garland Road. Preliminary findings indicate the lawn mower was traveling on the westbound shoulder when for unknown reasons, the pickup left the roadway–leading to the crash. The roadway was closed for more than six hours while investigators worked the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing to investigate.
