Dover Man with Four Prior Gun Convictions Sentenced to 40 Months in Federal Prison

A Dover man has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for drug dealing and possessing a firearm following multiple prior felony convictions. 聽U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Hall imposed the sentence. Court records show 24-year-old Deontray Watson was released from state prison in February 2024 after a prior gun conviction. Less than a month later, law enforcement received information that he was again armed and dealing drugs. He was arrested at a gas station with an associate, where officers found fentanyl, crack cocaine, and a loaded stolen handgun under the passenger seat near his wallet. Watson pleaded guilty to federal gun and drug charges. Officials noted he has five gun-related convictions in the past decade. Prosecutors and federal agents said the case reflects ongoing efforts to target armed drug traffickers and reduce violence in the community.
