The Baltimore Orioles have announced a new partnership with Salisbury University – designating the school as the officials Higher Education Partner of the Baltimore Orioles. Through the partnership, the Orioles and SU will host a series of unique student engagement opportunities designed to bridge the classroom and the sports industry – at both Camden Yards and at the University.

“This partnership with the Baltimore Orioles brings together two influential institutions — one in higher education and one in professional sports — united by a shared commitment to Maryland’s people, communities, and economic vitality,” said DR. CAROLYN RINGER LEPRE, Salisbury University President. “As Salisbury University celebrates its centennial and the Orioles mark 35 seasons at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, this collaboration arrives at a meaningful moment for both organizations. We’re excited to create new opportunities for our students, alumni, and community as a part of one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises.”

“Our collaboration with Salisbury University will help us prepare the next generation of students for a successful future, be it in baseball, sports, business, or elsewhere altogether,” said DON ROVAK, Orioles Chief Revenue Officer. “We’re looking forward to the positive impact this partnership will have not only on the young minds of Salisbury students, but also the Maryland community as a whole.”

Salisbury students will have the opportunity to engage with Orioles front office staff, learning the business of baseball and receiving hands-on experience in human resources, finance, and other career fields. SU will also bring the Orioles directly to the classroom as students complete real-world capstone projects and present their ideas to Orioles team leadership.

While the partnership is a new endeavor for both the University and the Orioles, it is not the first time SU students have had the opportunity to interact with professionals connected to the franchise. SU’s Sea Gull baseball team, currently led by head coach and former major league pitcher Troy Brohawn, has played several exhibition games against the Orioles’ Single-A affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds, whose Arthur W. Perdue Stadium is just 10 miles from campus.

The Orioles will host Salisbury University Night at Oriole Park on Friday, September 4, when the club hosts the Boston Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. Fans who purchase the special ticket package for the evening will receive a Salisbury-Orioles co-branded t-shirt. SU students and representatives will be invited to participate in several pre- and in-game ceremonies, including the ceremonial first pitch and the national anthem. There will also be an appearance by the Salisbury University Marching Band and mascot Sammy Sea Gull. For more information on the partnership, visit www.salisbury.edu. Tickets to Salisbury University Night will go on sale at a later date.
