Vice Chancellor Morgan Zurn Nominated to Fill Upcoming Vacancy on Delaware Supreme Court

Governor Matt Meyer has nominated Vice Chancellor Morgan Zurn to serve as a Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court. Vice Chancellor Zurn has distinguished herself as a thoughtful and respected jurist throughout her decade of service on the Delaware Court of Chancery.
If confirmed by the Delaware State Senate, Zurn will fill the vacancy created by the expiration of the term of the honorable Karen Valihura who is not seeking reappointment.

I am proud to nominate her to serve on Delaware’s highest court.”
Zurn has served as a Vice Chancellor on the Delaware Court of Chancery since 2018, presiding over corporate and commercial matters on Delaware’s internationally recognized business court while also adjudicating cases involving trusts, estates, guardianships, fiduciary relationships, and equitable claims. Prior to her appointment as Vice Chancellor, she served as a Magistrate in Chancery and as a Deputy Attorney General in both the Consumer Protection and Criminal Appeals units of the Delaware Department of Justice.
Morgan T. Zurn has served as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery since 2018 and previously served as a Magistrate in Chancery from 2016 to 2018. Over the past decade on the Court of Chancery, she has presided over a wide range of corporate, commercial, fiduciary, trust, estate, guardianship, and equitable matters.
Prior to joining the bench, Zurn served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Delaware Department of Justice, where she litigated criminal appeals before the Delaware Supreme Court and handled consumer protection and white-collar enforcement matters. She also clerked for Judge Richard G. Andrews of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and practiced law with Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP and Lewis, Rice & Fingersh L.C.
Zurn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, with distinction, from the University of Virginia. She received both her Juris Doctor, cum laude, and a Master’s in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as Executive Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association, the Richard S. Rodney Inn of Court, and the American Bar Association.
