DSP Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Magnolia

Delaware State Police were called to East Cherry Drive in Magnolia for a domestic incident just after 9 Monday night and learned the 37 year old Kristopher Glanden of Frederica was reported to be suicidal, armed with a handgun and attempting to enter the residence where his ex and other family members were. Troopers found Glanden in the front yard, but he refused to comply with commands and pointed a handgun at the troopers, who fired – striking Glanden. Troopers provided first aid until EMS arrived, but Glanden died at the scene.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation, a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from the scene. The involved troopers were not injured and have been placed on administrative leave while a use-of-force investigation is conducted.
