Dr. Jason Peel Named Superintendent at Sussex Tech

Sussex Tech has a new Superintendent – Dr. Jason Peel. His appointment was approved by the Board of Education during its July 1st meeting. Dr. Peel brings over 20 years of educational experience which spans classroom teaching, school leadership, human resources and district administration.

Dr. Peel came to Delaware in 2006 as an Assistant Principal at Sussex Central then took the same position at Sussex Tech in 2008 where he was later elevated to Supervisor of Support Services. He moved on to Polytech in 2012 as principal and in 2016 moved to the Milford School District as Director of Secondary Education and later Director of Human Resources and School Climate.

Dr. Peel returned to Sussex Tech in 2023 as Director of Human Resources and Support Services and applied for the Superintendent’s position after Dr. Kevin Carson’s retirement in April.

Dr. Peel will officially take the position on September 1st.

He started his educational career as a Spanish teacher in North Carolina, where he taught at both the high school and college levels. He advanced into educational leadership, serving in administrative roles in North Carolina before relocating to Delaware.

Peel holds a Doctor of Education: Policy and Administration from the University of Delaware, a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Arts: Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University.
