UPDATED: Over 40 Dogs and Other Animals Seized from Sharptown Property
UPDATED – 07/20/26 – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office was called to East State Street in Sharptown on Friday, July 17th to assist Wicomico County Animal Control with an investigation into the welfare of numerous dogs housed on the property. About 43 dogs were found and removed for their safety and well-being and taken to the Humane Society of Wicomico County for veterinary evaluations, care and treatment.
The investigation is continuing by Animal Control and the Sheriff’s Office – no criminal charges have been filed at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY – 07/19/26 – The Humane Society of Wicomico County along with County and Salisbury Animal Control were called as the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department served a warrant at a property on State Street in Sharptown Friday afternoon. Deputies found 43 dogs of various breeds housed in a barn in unsanitary conditions. The dogs – as well as 3 cats, 5 chickens and a turtle were seized and taken to the Humane Society for emergency care.
Many of the animals are expected to be available for adoption in the near future.
The investigation is continuing and criminal charges are pending.
