Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 10/21/23

Saturday began with small craft advisories and ended with a gale warning. That kept boats at the dock or on their trailers. It looks like Tuesday before conditions improve to the point where charter and head boats will sail again.

The folks at Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park said it was windy, windy, windy on Saturday. They did have a few brave souls out on the pier and they caught some short flounder and dog sharks.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle told us in spite of the wind, the hearty tog fishermen worked the rocks at Indian River Inlet with sand fleas and green crab to catch lots of short tog with a few keepers and some sheepshead. Surf fishing remains a waste of time.

Fall should be the best time of the year for surf fishing in Delaware, but this series of storms has kept the bait and fish offshore. Better weather might bring them back.

This is Eric Burnley with your Talk of DelMarVa Fishing Report.
