AG Jennings Joins in Lawsuit Against Trump Administration Over Medicaid Funding Restrictions for Planned Parenthood

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings joined a coalition of 21 states and the District of Columbia in filing a lawsuit challenging a provision in the recently signed federal budget reconciliation law, known as the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The lawsuit targets the “Defund Provision,” which prohibits Medicaid reimbursements for services provided at Planned Parenthood health centers. The states argue that the measure restricts access to essential healthcare services—such as cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing—for low-income individuals and disproportionately impacts women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and communities of color. The states joining Delaware in the filing include Maryland and New Jersey.
