Attorney General Brown Files Brief Defending Major Offshore Wind Project in Maryland

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has filed an  an amicus brief  in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland supporting US Wind’s request for a preliminary injunction to allow a major offshore wind project off Maryland’s coast to proceed. Officials who support the project say offshore wind would generate 1,710 megawatts of electricity—enough to power about 700,000 homes—while creating approximately 13,000 jobs and producing an estimated $6 billion in economic benefits. Opponents argue the project could harm marine life, disrupt coastal views, and increase energy costs.
