Bay Bridge Construction & Backups to Become the Norm for the Duration

Beginning on Monday drivers using the Bay Bridge will find the westbound right lane closed and two way operations on the westbound bridge halted because of the narrower lane configuration.   Maryland Transportation warn drivers that major delays in both directions will occur during morning and afternoon rush hour periods. 

However, the MDTA also has announced on its Twitter feed that during the construction, if traffic backs up to I-97,  the MDTA will hold traffic westbound for short periods to allow three lanes of eastbound traffic until backups clear unless prevented by severe weather conditions.
