Berlin Man Arrested after Fight Early Friday Morning in Ocean City

Ocean City Police were called to the area of 83^rd Street just after 1am Friday for a disorderly male. Police found evidence of a fight that ha taken place both inside and outside a residence and determined that the victim and suspect are acquaintances who were inside together when the fight occurred. The suspect was asked to leave, but unlawfully reentered the residence where an additional fight occurred. The suspect left on foot before police arrived.

With help from K9 Mackenzie, the suspect was tracked to the 87^th Street area, onto the beach and south through multiple blocks and parking areas – near the original incident. The suspect, identified as 30 year old Ernest Leatherbury of Berlin, was found in a parked vehicle and arrested without incident.

Leatherbury is charged with the following offenses: 

• 3^rd degree burglary
• 4^th degree burglary
• 2^nd degree assault

Leatherbury is being held without bond at the Worcester County Jail.
